Speedway wins PR News National CSR Award

In conjunction with Speedway’s 25th anniversary of raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the organization was recently awarded the PR News CSR award for corporations with more than 25,000 employees.

The award goes to a company that has best demonstrated an understanding of the power of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Speedway began raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals in 1991. To date, they recently crossed the $90 million mark of funds raised for local children’s hospitals. Donations stay local and fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. Member hospitals use funds where they are needed most. For example, in Detroit, Speedway funds have provided a waiting lounge for families with children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Beaumont Children’s Hospital; in Dayton, OH Speedway helped fund a Mobile Intensive Care Unit; and, in Columbus, OH, the family lounge at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is another example of Speedway’s local impact, not just for sick kids, but for their families as well.

CMN Hospitals is Speedway’s primary charitable focus, benefitting 58 member hospitals in all of the 2,700 locations Speedway operates. Funds are raised by asks at the point of sale, prompts at the pump as well as other community events. Both in-store efforts and Speedway’s golf tournament have seen continuous growth averaging from 5% to 15% year over year.
